A Dutch startup reveals that the Lightyear 0 solar car has garnered approximately 150 pre-orders.
Lightyear, a Dutch startup, has embarked on the production of the world's first series-production electric vehicle that harnesses power directly from sunlight.
The inaugural model, the Lightyear 0, is priced at 250,000 euros ($259,000).
Lightyear intends to manufacture around a thousand cars at a Valmet facility located in Finland.
The car is equipped with curved solar panels spanning across the hood and roof.
Sun-derived power will contribute an additional driving range of up to 70 km (43 miles) each day.
The Lightyear 2 is set to enter production by 2025.
